Our client, in the dairy production industry is seeking a talented and motivated Production Manager (Afternoon Shift) with a background in dairy or brewery production reporting to the Plant Manager. Our client is the leading provider of dairy products such as milk, creamer, cheese in Canada. They offer variety of products when it comes to milk and dairy under national brand names like Natrel, Sealtest, OKA etc. Additionally, our client pride themselves on their business model and the way it helps share the wealth. Production Manager: Responsibilities and duties

The Production Manager (afternoon shift) is responsible to lead and mentor the production team to drive performance through the implementation of the IWS systems.  The candidate must ensure quality production is delivered on time and budget while ensuring a safe work environment.   He/she drives and motivates the team by means of an exceptional servant Leader approach. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and supports the team (Material Planner, Manpower planner and production supervisors) with respect to the manufacturing process and personnel management while promoting good relations among employees.
  • Ensures that all EH&S and quality standards are met at the plant day in day out.
  • Establishes and implements data driven improvement plans, reducing non-conformities, improving performance to meet or exceed expectations.  
  • Drives the implementation of the IWS deployment known as “AOS”
  • Manages production operations to meet the KPIs in the strategic plan.
  • Acts as a change agent to instill a culture of performance. 
  • Lives Agropur’s core values of cooperation, communication, excellence, integrity, and boldness.
  • Develops a talented, capable & engaged team.  Builds technical and behavioural capabilities across all levels.
  • Partners effectively with all multi-functional peers, both internal and external, to deliver KPI and strategic goals.
  • Is responsible for a non-stop 24/7 operating environment.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor or college degree in operation, engineering, or relative field.
  • Strong Servant Leadership skills. Strategic thinker to help develop the 5-year plan.
  • Skilled communicator with an ability to mobilize teams to carry out change.
  • Knowledge in continuous improvement methodologies and in problem solving techniques.
  • At least 5 years experience in a key managerial role in a unionized environment.
  • 5-8 years experience in food manufacturing (preferably FMCG).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Food Science, Dairy production/Brewery, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of the SQF code, HACCP, GMPs and food-safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
