Job Overview

Our client is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their team, focusing on migrating and deploying applications in an on-premises cloud infrastructure. This role involves close collaboration with application developers to set up deployments, configure common services, and recommend solutions to optimize hardware resource utilization. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) tools, container technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the migration and deployment of applications in an on-prem cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with application developers to design and implement deployments and configure shared services.
  • Recommend and execute strategies to maximize hardware resource efficiency.
  • Work extensively with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and containerd.
  • Leverage CI/CD tools, including GitLab and Jenkins, to streamline application deployment.
  • Implement and manage monitoring solutions using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Provision storage solutions (e.g., OpenEBS, Gluster) and perform data backup and restoration operations.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for Linux-based systems, with a preference for CentOS.
  • Develop automation tools to eliminate repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze metrics using tools such as Elastic.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills and Experience:
    • Proficiency with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, containerd).
    • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
    • Expertise in monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
    • Experience in storage provisioning and data backup/restore (e.g., OpenEBS, Gluster).
    • Proficiency in Linux systems (CentOS preferred).
    • Strong programming skills in both dynamic and compiled languages.
    • Proven experience building and maintaining automation tools.
    • Familiarity with metrics tools (e.g., Elastic).
  • Clearance: TS/SCI Clearance required.
