Our client, a growing Houston area law firm, is looking to hire an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team. 
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys in civil defense litigation, including insurance defense, general liability, personal injury, product liability, and professional malpractice cases.

  • Draft, review, and manage legal documents such as discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and motions.

  • Organize and manage case files and maintain accurate litigation calendars and deadlines.

  • Prepare summaries of medical records, deposition transcripts, and other case materials.

  • Coordinate with clients, experts, court personnel, and witnesses.

  • Assist with trial preparation, including preparing trial binders, exhibits, witness lists, and jury instructions.

  • Conduct factual and legal research, including background research on parties, witnesses, and experts.

  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and gather case information.

  • Review and analyze evidence, pleadings, and discovery materials to assist in strategy development.

  • Use litigation support software and document management systems effectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of defense litigation paralegal experience in a law firm setting.

  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and rules of court at the state and federal levels.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., TrialDirector, Relativity, Clio, or similar).

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Paralegal certificate or degree preferred but not required if experience is equivalent.

  • Experience preparing materials for trial, mediation, or arbitration.
