Our client, a growing San Antonio based law firm, is looking to hire an experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join their litigation team. This role is for a named partner in the firm and is responsible for providing administrative and legal support for one partner and one associate. This position will also maintain and organize attorney case files, assist in preparation of various legal documents and correspondence of a legal nature. In this position you will entail frequent contact with clients on behalf of attorneys and must maintain confidentiality of sensitive material. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Manage calendar, scheduling appointments and coordinating attorney's calendar and tasks both for professional and personal appointments/tasks.
  • Keep attorney on schedule and on time for all deadlines as well as prioritizing attorney's schedule.
  • Manage the billing process of the litigation planning side of the firm.
  • Responsible for all Litigation billing deliverables monthly.
  • E-file and E-serve pleadings and other legal documents.
  • Assists with preparation and scheduling of meetings, hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Review and proof legal documents.
  • Implement procedures for opening files and running conflict checks.
  • Maintains and provides status reports on case files.
  • Function as back-up for receptionist for limited periods of time by screening incoming telephone calls and messages.
  • Organizing and following up on personal and business documents which need responding to, scanning, disposing of, etc.
  • Proactive involvement in attorney’s communications and coordination with clients and other attorneys.
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Superior organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with document management systems (Worldox, iManage, NetDocuments).
  • Experience with case management systems (TABS/Practice Master, TimeSlips, Needles, MyCase).
  • Experience with legal research (LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Ability to type 50 wpm accurately. Ability to utilize advanced word processing functions and special applications.
  • Ability to operate usual office equipment.
  • Arrange for delivery of correspondence and packages (USPS, FedEx, etc.) including certified mail.
  • Must be able to maintain excellent work attendance.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas litigation preferred, but not required.
