Job Title: Senior Project Manager – Construction

Location: Toronto East
Reports To: VP of Operations
Department: Project Management

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager (SPM) to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of major Access projects. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in managing complex projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong focus on safety, schedule, budget, and quality. This role requires leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Management

  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously from initiation to completion.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet contractual obligations, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Oversee and work with project teams, including Engineers and Site Installers.
  • Travel between Canada and the USA will be required.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Attend client meetings and monthly job costing meetings for progress reviews.
  • Manage change orders, claims, and contract negotiations effectively.

Financial Oversight

  • Track project costs against budgets and forecast financial outcomes.
  • Review and approve progress billings, subcontractor payments, and cost reports.
  • Implement risk management strategies to minimize cost overruns and delays.

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the project team.
  • Ensure staff follow company policies, procedures, and best practices.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture across all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA (or local equivalent), building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Mechanical engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction project management, with at least 5 years in a senior-level role.
  • Proven track record of managing large, complex projects) within schedule and budget.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • PMP certification or equivalent professional designation is an asset.

Keys / Comments:

 

Candidates should have successful relevant experience in managing engineered to order construction equipment projects related to high rise buildings. (for example MEP, HVAC, rebar, scaffolding and formwork, elevators, escalators, swing stages, revolving doors, curtainwalls, glazing, etc.).
