We are looking for an experienced Safety Coordinator with experience working in Utility (transmission, distribution and substation) Construction, to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents. The position will travel throughout the state of Florida. You will monitor field operations to eliminate hazardous activities. Safety coordinators should be well-versed in all OSH (occ. safety & health) dictations. Your work will be focused on prevention so you need to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers. The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

Responsibilities

Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
Conduct safety inspections, observations, investigations and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
Communicates, coaches and trains crews on the current HSE work practices and rules, policies and procedures.
Prepares reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries/property/utility damage incidents.
Enforce OSH (occ. safety & health) policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
Coordinate drug screening (Randoms (DOT & NON), post accident, reasonable suspicion)
Direct accident investigation procedures
Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
Organize and conduct OSH training plans
Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters

Skills

Proven experience as safety coordinator in the power line construction industry
In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices
Experience in reporting and developing policies
OSHA 30 Training
CUSP certification, or OSHA training certification
Experience in implementing OSH training programs
Proficient in MS Office
Excellent communication and advisory skills
Diligent with an analytical mind
BSc/Ba in business administration, Safety or relevant field
MVR qualifies individual to be an approved company driver
Pass pre-employment drug screen
