LEAN MANUFACTURING MANAGERWe’re looking for an energetic, motivated, driven & collaborative Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing Manager for our Client’s union manufacturing operation in the greater Johnstown, PA area. This position is a key member of the Site Leadership Team. The successful Candidate must be able to lead by influence, collaboration, lean manufacturing, and data analysis skills. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced union manufacturing environment. 
  • Exceptional initiative, leadership by influence, and collaboration skills.
  • Toyota Production System or Lean certification preferred.
  • Experience implementing lean systems. 
  • Must be hands-on & be able to train & coach teams on applicable lean principles.
  • Experience implementing Lean in a Manufacturing environment
  • Change management experience
  • Strong data analytics skills
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated success in Lean Manufacturing or 6 Sigma continuous improvement, including visual daily management, process management, continuous flow, kaizen, root cause analysis & problem solving.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a union environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, large-scale, complex activities at one time.
  • Ability to proactively identify, assess and mitigate risk in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Previous operations management positions in a lean manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION: BS in engineering, scientific or appropriate business field.

SOFTWARE:

  • Minitab or other Statistical Process Software & MS Excel for statistical analysis, etc.
  • MS PowerPoint presentations using visuals & graphics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include:

  • Lead the Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence function at the plant.
  • Train and coach teams on applicable lean principles using TPS model & problem solving
  • Provide expertise and leadership for advanced problem-solving through 5-Why, fishbone, and FMEA analyses.
  • Partner with plant leaders and their groups to advance the use of lean manufacturing tools for continuous improvement.
  • Create and launch and/or improve upon existing methodologies and processes for connected Daily Management with embedded Problem-Solving in all areas and levels of the Plant. 
  • Frameworks will include the processes to prioritize, escalate, track and monitor actions needed for improvement.  Proactively build engagement, ownership, and commitment for the use of processes and tools. 
  • Implement Process Management as a sustainable method to manage key manufacturing processes in order to consistently meet customer needs and business goals.
  • Lead Kaizen, OEE, and other improvement events and programs.
  • Identify gaps and needed improvements in programs such as the reliability program and facilitate those improvements.
  • Implement visual signals for material movement (e.g. kanban) and develop inventory staging strategies with visual signals.
  • Assess existing processes through direct observation and analysis of production methods and processes to identify opportunities for improvements that result in efficiency gains and reduced cost through the elimination of waste.
