TRUSTS & ESTATES ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 50 firm, is seeking a talented Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney to join its national Personal Planning Practice Group in Seattle or Bellevue. This is a unique opportunity to work with a collaborative team of sophisticated practitioners on high-value, complex estate planning matters for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.

  • Active Bar Admission in Washington.

  • 2–8 years of substantive transactional experience in estate planning and trust and estate administration.

  • LL.M. in Taxation is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws.

  • Experience with the structuring and implementation of sophisticated estate planning strategies, including family limited partnerships, grantor trusts, GRATs, and charitable planning.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients and collaborate effectively with family office advisors and fiduciaries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on estate and tax planning strategies tailored to their specific needs and goals.

  • Draft a wide variety of planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced directives.

  • Assist clients with the creation and administration of family offices, and with planning related to closely held businesses, private foundations, and special assets such as art and real estate.

  • Represent fiduciaries in the administration, modification, and decanting of complex trusts.

  • Collaborate with attorneys in other practice groups to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary advice to clients.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, ranging from $235,000 to $420,000 annually. The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, including eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus, medical, dental, and vision insurance, personal medical and parental leave, up to ten paid holidays, family care benefits, and a 401(k) plan.
