The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing, coaching, and advising accounting team members while overseeing financial reporting, tax compliance, and administration. This role leads team activities related to the financial close process, ensuring the accurate and timely filing of financial information. Additionally, the Accounting Manager manages the organization's tax compliance and obligations.
 
Duties: Including but not limited to:
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including month and end-year processes, general ledger, revenue and expense analysis, and other activities
  • Set up and/or oversee all audit and internal controls and metrics within the organization and ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines
  • Coordinate with outsourced tax preparation work and develop a roadmap for tax planning strategy
  • Prepare documentation for tax regulation authorities (U.S. and Canada)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all tax-related questions for the organization
  • Maintain relationships with accounting and tax firms, insurance companies, and various other external parties
  • Prepare relevant documentation for external auditors and government entities
  • Lead a team of direct reports to provide mentorship and guidance. Conduct 1-on-1 check-ins/quarterly connections meetings: Define team members’ goals, elevate progress, and invest in their development by coaching, training, and supporting personal and professional goals/performance
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 5-7 years of related experience preferred
  • CMA or CPA is highly beneficial but not required

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and best practices
  • Detail oriented with excellent ability to think critically, analyze data, make recommendations, and manage circumstances accurately and professionally
  • High-level organizational skills, prioritizing a varied and demanding workload, and demonstrates strong initiative toward improvement efforts
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and provide professional assistance to coworkers and other stakeholders
  • Effective verbal and written skills, and ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Knowledge in the area(s) of Company policies, procedures, and products
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects
