Position Summary:

Harvest Superintendent 


Oversees shift harvest/kill floor to ensure safety and quality processes align with company objectives. Responsible for directing the supervisory team on daily operations, establishing production priorities, managing workflow, scheduling, and fostering employee satisfaction. Provides leadership and expertise to achieve production targets, yields, labor efficiency, and performance goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead continuous evaluation of short- and long-term departmental objectives.
  • Promote a safe working environment in compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor production efficiency and discuss daily goals with supervisors.
  • Direct supervisors on production volume, quality, and cost while ensuring schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Improve processes and policies to support departmental and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance productivity.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets and strategies for profitability.
  • Assist in strategic planning for operational activities and capital investment.
  • Facilitate coordination and communication with IT, HR, and Finance departments.
  • Manage administrative functions, including staffing levels, cross-training, and employee development plans.
  • Report daily production results and initiatives.
  • Supervise employees, including performance evaluations, recognition, issue resolution, and discipline as necessary.
  • Train and develop supervisors to strengthen management depth and teamwork.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and sanitation of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and foster a fair and respectful workplace.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of beef cuts and production processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory, coaching, or management experience in a processing plant.
  • Strong integrity and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication skills (bilingual a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in team management and employee development.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Teamwork and conflict management abilities.
  • High stress tolerance and adaptability.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college training preferred.
