We are seeking a career-oriented environmental professional to support the Environmental Manager with the coordination and implementation of environmental permits, programs, and regulatory requirements. The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance and operational success across multiple environmental programs, including wastewater reuse, public drinking water, stormwater, hazardous waste, and air quality.
\n\nPartner with the Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
\nReview permits and regulations, identifying actionable requirements and maintaining tracking systems for compliance.
\nMonitor, analyze, and manage regulatory data; ensure timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
\nCommunicate updates on environmental issues, concerns, and compliance matters to the Environmental Manager and facility personnel.
\nProvide guidance to staff on environmental issues and assist in resolving concerns.
\nLead or support environmental projects as assigned.
\nConduct investigations to determine root causes of environmental issues and develop prevention and improvement strategies.
\nAudit regulatory data, documentation, and compliance status.
\nCollaborate with wastewater and plant operations teams to support compliance.
\nSupport interactions with regulatory agencies and facility leadership.
\nEngage in ongoing technical education and professional development.
\nPerform other duties as assigned by the Environmental Manager or Wastewater Supervisor.
\nStrong professional communication skills, with the ability to handle compliance inquiries and communicate effectively under pressure.
\nAbility to review technical information and translate it into actionable tasks.
\nFlexibility to serve on-call or work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
\nWillingness to support wastewater operations when required.
\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound decision-making abilities.
\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, SCADA, and other industrial software platforms.
\nComfortable working in varied and challenging environments, including odorous, hot, humid, noisy, or outdoor conditions.
\nValid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and personal cell phone required.
\nRelevant education preferred.
\nMinimum of 5 years of industrial environmental compliance experience required.
\nExperience with industrial or operational programs such as wastewater, drinking water, and related systems preferred.
\nFamiliarity with the following regulatory areas:
\nWastewater/reuse permits and land application
\nStormwater permitting and SWPPP requirements
\nPublic drinking water program
\nSanitary sewer permits
\nAir permit requirements and GHG reporting
\nEPCRA reporting requirements
\nWaste management programs (RCRA)
\nOil Pollution Act (SPCC) implementation
\nGroundwater monitoring
