KIT Recruitment is proud to continue our successful partnership with a client in the food manufacturing industry, who is seeking an experienced FSQA Manager in central Mississauga, ON. 

 

The FSQA Manager will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality systems in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position is integral to maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-quality production environment, ensuring that the facility's products meet both regulatory standards and customer expectations.

 

 

FSQA Manager Details

  •  $70K-$80K*, based on experience+ discretionary bonus. 
  • 3 weeks vacation

  • Monday-Friday 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm, onsite.

FSQA Manager Responsibilities

 
  • Oversee and manage all food safety and quality assurance functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. Lead the FSQA team, providing the necessary resources to meet food safety objectives.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve the SQF system, ensuring systems and policies meet or exceed food safety and quality standards.
  • Lead recruitment and selection efforts, ensuring new hires possess the technical expertise and align with the company’s food safety culture. Manage performance, conduct reviews, and set quality benchmarks for the team.
  • Conduct internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of food safety and quality systems. Oversee SQF certifications and recertifications to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Manage customer complaint investigations and resolutions, ensuring timely solutions and tracking corrective actions.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors and service providers to meet food safety and quality standards. Ensure supplier compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set and achieve quality benchmarks, align FSQA objectives with company goals, and provide technical support as needed.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations across markets, including new ventures and product developments. Lead sustainability, environmental health and safety, and innovation projects within FSQA.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to other departments, ensuring the integration of FSQA practices throughout the organization.
 

FSQA Manager Qualifications

·        HACCP and SQF certification (required)
·        Certified Internal Auditor (required)
·        Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance management in food manufacturing
·        Expertise in developing and implementing SQF systems and regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, CFIA)
·        Knowledge of food safety practices, GMPs, HACCP, and SQF standards
·        Proven experience in managing internal audits and maintaining food safety certifications
·        Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and influence others effectively
·        Problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex issues
·        Knowledge of labeling, nutritional contents, and regulatory requirements for grain and food products
·        Proficient in handling customer complaints and implementing corrective actions
·        Understanding of environmental sustainability and health & safety standards in food manufacturing
·        Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results
·        Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
·        Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
