Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting department, ensuring compliance with all internal and external financial regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Manage and coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management to drive business performance and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the production and supply chain teams to analyze inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and other key financial metrics specific to the food manufacturing industry.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
  • Support the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk management strategies.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in a corporate accounting or financial management role within manufacturing *food manufacturing preferred but not required. 
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is required.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, inventory management, and industry-specific financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software (ERP systems experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing and developing a team.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with audits and tax filings.
