Our client, a food manufacturer located in Etobicoke, ON, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller to join our growing team. As the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting processes, and compliance within the organization. You will work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting department, ensuring compliance with all internal and external financial regulations.
• Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Manage and coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.
• Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management to drive business performance and profitability.
• Collaborate with the production and supply chain teams to analyze inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and other key financial metrics specific to the food manufacturing industry.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
• Support the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulations.
• Monitor and manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk management strategies.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in a corporate accounting or financial management role, with significant exposure to food manufacturing.
• CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is required.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, inventory management, and industry-specific financial reporting requirements.
• Proven experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting software (ERP systems experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing and developing a team.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with audits and tax filings.
