Position Title: Lead Accountant (Construction Co)

Location: Long Island City, Queens, NY

Reporting to: Corporate Controller

Position Summary:

We are in search of a dedicated and knowledgeable accounting professional to manage our daily and monthly accounting operations, focusing on billing, accounts receivable, and payable processes. This role requires collaboration with the Corporate Controller, CFO, and leadership team to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. We seek an individual who is detail-oriented, proactive, and possesses a strong ability to enhance and streamline accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee customer billing and manage the accounts receivable process.
• Develop and maintain an Accounts Receivable Aging Report.
• Perform monthly accounting tasks and journal entries using QuickBooks and Sage Intacct.
• Supervise all accounts payable activities.
• Maintain and organize comprehensive financial records, ensuring the accuracy of billing, AR, and AP files.
• Improve and implement a streamlined invoicing system and process.
• Ensure monthly reports for invoices, AR, and AP are completed by the 8th of each month, collaborating with the Controller for report transmission.
• Develop a training manual and month-end checklist in partnership with the CFO.
• Support the transition from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct during the system conversion process.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create clear and concise reports.
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
• Experience with Sage Intacct is highly favorable.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial record keeping.
• Adept at process improvement and effective communication with stakeholders.
• Experience working in a fast-paced construction environment is advantageous.
