Location

Tampa, FL – primarily on-site in South Tampa with a flexible hybrid schedule once you are fully trained and trusted to work independently. Expect to be in-office regularly to collaborate with the tax team and meet with clients. Candidates must already live in the Tampa Bay area within a reasonable commute; relocation is not provided.

Note

To be considered, you must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, at least 3+ years of tax experience in public accounting, and strong tax preparation skills across individual, corporate, and partnership returns. CPA or EA is preferred. You must live in the Tampa Bay area, be willing to work on-site, and be available for increased hours (around 50 per week) during tax season.

Job Description

  • Prepare and review a wide range of individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and nonprofit tax returns with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Apply federal, state, and local tax codes to help clients receive the maximum benefits allowed under law.
  • Provide proactive tax planning strategies and recommendations for individuals and small businesses.
  • Stay current on changes in tax law, public accounting standards, and best practices.
  • Manage, train, and mentor tax staff, reviewing their work and providing feedback and support.
  • Review financial statements and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, address questions, and explain complex tax concepts in clear language.
  • Review and respond to client comments and feedback, collaborating with other team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA or EA preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of tax experience, ideally in public accounting.
  • Strong background in tax preparation and compliance for individual, corporate, and partnership returns.
  • Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and how it connects to tax.
  • Excellent analytical and detail-oriented skills with strong regulatory knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, especially during busy season.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; Drake Tax experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to clients.
