Our client, an esteemed law firm based in California, is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Attorney to manage a semi-autonomous caseload with potential high exposure. This role is ideal for a seasoned attorney with a minimum of ten years of experience in civil litigation, including first chair experience in at least ten jury and five bench trials taken to verdict in a California State Superior Court.

Senior Litigation Attorney Responsibilities:

  • Litigation Management: Oversee all phases of civil litigation, from case initiation to verdict, including case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy.
  • Documentation and Research: Compile and organize critical documents, evidence, and legal research for hearings, trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
  • Legal Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on relevant laws and case precedents, preparing comprehensive summaries and reports.
  • Drafting and Preparation: Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents with precision and strategic insight.
  • Client and Witness Interaction: Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of their statements, and maintain detailed communication records.
  • Court and Legal Proceedings: Attend and advocate in court hearings, depositions, and a variety of legal proceedings.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Keep informed about changes in laws and regulations, ensuring clients are updated on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular updates for clients about case statuses, attending meetings to discuss significant developments.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in trial practice and preparation, including jury selection and expert retention.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil law principles, including contract, tort, public entity, and personal injury law.
  • Strong background in drafting motions and conducting trials, with excellent deposition skills.
  • Familiarity with Superior and Federal court systems and administrative procedures for state and federal trials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in the California Bar.
