An Estate Planning Attorney with 4+ years' professional legal experience is needed in Austin, TX for a position with a highly esteemed law firm specializing in estate planning, probate, and trust administration. The firm is dedicated to providing personalized and comprehensive legal services to clients by helping them protect their assets, plan for the future, and ensure their wishes are honored.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, excellent drafting skills, and a passion for helping clients navigate the complexities of estate and trust law.

Estate Planning Attorney Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to assess their estate planning needs, explain available options, and develop personalized estate plans tailored to their goals and circumstances.
  • Draft a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts (revocable and irrevocable), powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and related documents.
  • Provide clients with strategic advice on minimizing estate taxes, protecting assets, and ensuring an efficient transfer of wealth to heirs.
  • Assist clients in the administration of trusts and probate estates, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and facilitating a smooth process for beneficiaries.
  • Conduct legal research on estate, tax, and probate laws. Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents as necessary to support client matters.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to update them on case progress, answer questions, and ensure their needs are met throughout the estate planning process.
  • Regularly review and update existing estate plans to reflect clients' changing circumstances, such as new assets, family changes, or legislative developments.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff within the firm to ensure that client matters are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in networking events, seminars, and other business development activities to help grow the firm’s estate planning practice.

 

 

Estate Planning Attorney Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • 4+ years' experience in estate planning, probate, and/or trust administration.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning strategies, estate tax law, and probate procedures.
  • Exceptional drafting skills, with experience preparing wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple clients and cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly with complex legal and tax matters.
  • Experience with high-net-worth estate planning, including advanced tax strategies and asset protection techniques is preferred.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning, or certification in estate planning law, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of elder law, Medicaid planning, or special needs trusts is a plus.
  • Proficiency in estate planning software (e.g., WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel) is a plus.
