Our client, in the construction and architectural industry, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to join their team.  This position is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting their project management teams.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable working independently, and possess excellent communication skills. This role requires approximately 30 hours per week, will be hybrid (onsite 2 times per week) and is located in Orange County, CA.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Project Accounting - Manage project budgets, track expenses, and generate project-specific financial reports.
  • AP - Process invoices, manage vendor payments, and maintain accurate AP records.
  • AR - Generate invoices, track payments, and manage collections.
  • Utilize QuickBooks Desktop for daily accounting tasks, including data entry, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Utilize Smartsheets for project tracking and reporting, collaborating with project managers to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding billing inquiries and payment status.
  • Meet regularly with project managers to review project financials, discuss budget variances, and provide financial insights.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a related industry (construction, architecture, engineering).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop is essential.
  • Experience with Smartsheets is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles.
  • Experience with payroll processing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients 1 and project managers.   
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort learning new software applications.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to research solutions when necessary.  
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with bank reconciliations.
