Are you a seasoned tax professional with a passion for strategic compliance and a desire to make a tangible impact? We're seeking an ambitious Associate Director, Tax Compliance to join a rapidly growing, innovative medical technology manufacturer in South Orange County. This is a unique opportunity to lead our client's tax function, ensuring meticulous adherence to all federal, state, and local tax regulations while optimizing financial performance.

Your Impact:

 

In this pivotal leadership role, you'll be the driving force behind our client's tax strategy, working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to minimize liabilities and maximize efficiency. You'll dive deep into complex tax landscapes, providing expert guidance and ensuring accurate, timely reporting across all areas.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Sales & Use Tax Management: Navigate the intricacies of multi-state sales and use tax compliance, ensuring accurate collection, timely filings, and seamless audits. You'll partner with third-party providers, refine tax engine rules, and proactively monitor legislative changes.
 
  • Tax Provision & Accounting Oversight: Lead the charge in ASC 740 reporting, meticulously reviewing tax provision workpapers, analyzing book/tax differences, and ensuring accurate DTA schedules. You'll execute SOX controls, interface with auditors, and manage federal and state income tax returns.
 
  • Payroll Tax Compliance: Guarantee timely filings and payments through the payroll service provider, overseeing audits and adapting to evolving regulatory landscapes.
 
  • Tax & International Compliance: Manage informational tax reporting, property tax returns, and international indirect tax compliance, including VAT and other global filings.
 

What You'll Bring to the Table:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance (Master's in Tax preferred).
  • CPA certification.
  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally within a public manufacturing or public accounting environment.
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, local, and international tax laws, and U.S. sales and use tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, with manufacturing ERP experience a significant advantage.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A self-driven, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to excellence.
