ATHENA is currently seeking a skilled Pilot Plant Manager to join a growing company in Sardis, MS. This is an onsite position managing pilot plant operations and development work and offers a competitive base salary between $65K-$85K.

 

Pilot Plant Manager - Sardis, MS

 

Summary:

 

Manage the pilot plant operations, conducting development and analytical work to ensure product specifications are met before commercial scaling. This role involves laboratory work, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with R&D and Quality teams.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead development projects, including sample programs and product optimization.
  • Develop and maintain pilot plant technical procedures and product specifications.
  • Train staff and oversee material procurement and inventory.
  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Contribute to CAPA evaluations and provide technical interpretations.
  • Support quality control by establishing product evaluation metrics.
  • Maintain equipment to required tolerances and ensure meticulous record-keeping.
  • Adapt to seasonal fluctuations in responsibilities.
 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum:
    • Bachelor’s degree in related sciences with 4+ years of practical experience.
  • Preferred:
    • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Team-oriented mindset.
    • Experience with soil science and Humates (ISO 19822).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • High level of organization and composure.
    • Deep understanding of laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
    • Experience with spray drying, granulation, extruding, compaction, extraction and related techniques.
 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to stand, handle materials, and communicate effectively.
  • Occasional walking, sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 45 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
 

Work Environment:

 

  • Standard analytical laboratory environment with potential health hazards.
  • Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
  • Potential exposure to airborne pathogens, biological materials, and hazardous substances.
