Assistant Director Surgical Services 

 $90,000 to $140,000 + Full benefits package provided + Paid Relocation

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Surgical Services is a key leadership role supporting the senior executive (CNO). This position is critical for driving operational excellence and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care within the Surgical Services division (Operating Room).

Key Performance Expectations & Operational Metrics

The Assistant Director is accountable for the successful management of the assigned units, with an emphasis on the following operational areas:

  • Resource Management: Accountable for 24/7 staffing models and budget adherence, ensuring optimal utilization of resources, materials, and technology within the OR.

  • Quality & Safety: Directly responsible for reducing complications, minimizing patient incidents, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.

  • Efficiency: Drive improvement in key metrics such as Operating Room Turnover Time, First Case On-Time Starts, and patient throughput to maximize surgical capacity.

  • Competency: Ensure staff training and ongoing professional development meet the demands of advanced surgical procedures, resulting in high staff competency scores.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Utilize highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments (Anesthesia, Sterile Processing, Administration) and manage conflicts constructively.

  • Strategic Planning: Assist the CNO in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives designed to advance nursing practice and operational efficiency.

  • Accountability: Assume 24/7 responsibility for assigned areas, ensuring timely resolution of operational issues and providing consistent managerial support.

Qualifications

Experience Required: 2+ years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment (manager, full-time charge nurse, or related position). Required: 2+ years of hospital experience working in the Operating Room (OR).
 
Education Required: Academic degree in nursing (Associate's Degree minimum). Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
 
License Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
