The Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of electrical and controls systems, from asset management and troubleshooting to project leadership and team support.
Engineering & Project Leadership:
Lead and perform electrical engineering and automation design for all aspects of projects with limited guidance.
Develop and lead plant expense and capital projects.
Prepare and review technical electrical specifications for equipment and processes.
Systems and Equipment Management:
Maintain and upgrade the site's electrical infrastructure and power distribution systems.
Design, integrate, install, and support manufacturing equipment, control systems, and data acquisition systems.
Modify electrical control circuits and PLC/HMI programs.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Provide support for unplanned, planned, preventative, predictive, and corrective electrical maintenance.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment and control system breakdowns in a 24/7 operation.
Determine root cause failure analysis and develop corrective action plans.
Safety & Compliance:
Partner with Health, Safety, and Environmental teams to ensure compliance and execution of electrical safety initiatives, including the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
Compliance with all safety/environmental standards, and promotion of safe work practices.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally 2 to 5 years).
Demonstrated experience with electrical power distribution, equipment, protection, and sizing, including the engineering and implementation of 480V and 4160V Power Distribution Systems.
Strong, hands-on experience in maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of PLC systems.
Proficient in Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming) and communication within enterprise/control networked systems.
Practical experience in Allen-Bradley AC variable speed drives.
Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD) and the ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings.
Preferred Skills (A Plus):
Experience in polymer science or textile manufacturing.
Experience with Industrial Database systems (WonderWare).
Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and Sieman variable speed drives/European control schemes.
Experience with VMWare, Servers, and Thin Clients technology.
Six Sigma, SPC, Lean, 5S, and TPM applications.
Six Sigma Certification.
