Our client is a global Tier 1 automotive supplier specializing in precision injection molding and the assembly of high-quality plastic components for leading OEMs.  

 

We are looking for a candidate with experience in sales support and costing of automotive projects. This newly created role will be titled Sales Engineer and will support both Business Development and Controlling in the ramp up of exciting new projects. The focus will be on calculating and preparing detailed cost breakdowns (CBD) and supporting RFQ processes. 

 

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and break down customer inquiries for review by relevant internal departments 

  • Evaluate technical and commercial requirements of RFQs to define pricing assumptions 

  • Calculate costs for plastic injection-molded components and assemblies 

  • Define and calculate process and assembly steps, including selection of suitable machinery 

  • Determine key process parameters (e.g., cycle time, labor, scrap rates) 

  • Support the sales and project teams during customer negotiations and offer preparation 

  • Create profitability analyses and cost breakdowns 

  • Surface finishing/painting calculation experience is a plus 

  • Perform additional tasks as needed 

 

Qualifications: 

  •  5+ years in cost calculation support/RFQs, incl. BOM handling & advanced Excel
  • Relevant experience in cost calculation, ideally in plastics manufacturing 

  • Strong knowledge of assessing technical feasibility 

  • Technical education preferred; business training is a plus 

  • Familiarity with assembly processes for plastic components and knowledge of the injection molding process 

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to work independently 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications 

  • 2-3 years automotive industry experience
  • German language skills a plus
