Summary

The Corporate Controller plays a critical role within the management team, collaborating closely with the VP of Finance and plant leadership to oversee essential financial and business activities across all facilities. This position involves leadership, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, KPI development, variance analysis, and asset management. The Corporate Controller will also support plant controllers, ensuring consistency and accuracy in financial practices and reporting.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to plant controllers, acting as the primary point of contact for guidance, resources, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee and ensure the successful execution of the month-end close process, delivering timely and accurate financial entries.
  • Prepare and present consolidated monthly financial reports to senior leadership.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in financial reporting by reconciling balance sheet accounts and aligning subledgers with the general ledger.
  • Partner with plant and corporate leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial goals.
  • Review and analyze Bill of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Notices, and their financial implications.
  • Deliver consistent KPI data and analysis to drive operational and strategic decisions.
  • Lead inventory management efforts, including obsolescence reserves, cycle counts, and optimization strategies.
  • Develop and maintain standard costing for materials, labor, and overhead rates within ERP systems.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and collaborate with operations teams to resolve root causes and implement solutions.
  • Manage capital expenditure projects, including budget tracking, cost analysis, and asset transfer processes.
  • Provide financial insights for sales, operations, and engineering to support product costing, pricing strategies, and margin analysis.
  • Serve as an ERP systems expert to ensure consistent utilization and efficiency across plants.
  • Travel 10-15% to provide training and support to plant controllers.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by senior leadership.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management, controlling, or cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to guide and develop teams.
  • Proven expertise in managing financial operations for new program launches, including cost and revenue forecasting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across all levels of an organization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and project management abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-15% to train and support plant controllers.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
