Our client, Fortis Security Products provides a range of physical security products for Financial Institutions, Pharmacies, and other commercial applications throughout the nation. Their products include drive up and drive-thru solutions, remote transaction products, safes, and custom manufactured components. Fortis is seeking a Press Brake Operator for their 2nd shift.

Department: Fabrication

Reports To: Production Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Set up, adjust, and operate the press brake with minimal supervision, ensuring proper alignment and securing of tooling, dies, and fixtures.

  • Select, verify, and prepare materials for each job, ensuring the correct type, thickness, and dimensions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine part specifications, bend angles, and other job requirements.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy in bend angles, dimensions, and alignment, using tools like calipers, micrometers, and protractors.
  • Adjust machine settings (e.g., pressure, back gauge, stroke length) as needed to ensure proper bending and minimize defects.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment.
  • Record production data, including part quantities, material usage, machine settings, and any adjustments or issues encountered during operation.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to discuss job progress, quality concerns, and process improvements.
  • Train and mentor less experienced operators, sharing knowledge of machine operation, setup techniques, and quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

· Requires 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment

· Knowledge of mechanical principles, metal fabricating methods

· Proficient basic math skills

· Ability to work in an unsupervised and self-motivated manner

· Outstanding organizational skills

The work is typically performed in a workshop setting. The noise level is moderate to loud. Environmental conditions may include exposure to sharp objects, slippery surfaces, crowded areas, or working near moving or heated parts.

Hours and Benefits:

  • 2nd Shift Hours: M-F 3:45pm – 12:15am (occasional overtime)
