Our client in PA within the insurance industry is seeking a P&C Licensed Insurance Agent to head up their Agricultural Practice.

  • Hours/Schedule - 8:30-5 pm (in office with some flexibility; hybrid schedule not available - minimal travel) M-F
  • Location - Preference is Lancaster area (however, there are other locations in PA available as necessary)

This role is responsible for managing and servicing an assigned book of business related to the farming/agricultural industry, by analyzing customers’ individual needs, evaluating options, and offering tailored insurance solutions. This role is also responsible to build and maintain relationships with existing customers and to promote the firm as a specialist within the industry.   

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Service and promote the products/services and work at a high-level to develop and retain customers. 

• Handle telephone calls and personal visits from customers pertaining to their risks and coverage requirements, claims, new business, re-markets and additional lines of coverage.

• Ensure all renewals and requests for changes, endorsements, audits are properly implemented and align with company requirements for agricultural lines of business.

• Manage a specific group of agricultural customers, including: Analyze the needs of the customers, evaluate and respond to questions regarding coverage, and determine the best service/product for the customer.

• Maintain contact with designated accounts prior to renewal to address concerns, external competition, exposure changes, and additional necessary coverage.

• Assist existing policyholders through the renewal process with concise communication and knowledge. Educate customers on various products and/or policy features, advantages and disadvantages.  

• Develop and initiate/maintain proper knowledge of the marketplace and strong working relationships with company representatives and underwriters. If no coverage is currently available in a particular market, investigate risk placement alternatives as available and necessary.

• Prepare submissions, and negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with selected carriers. Review all quotes with recommendations as to the best options for price, coverage and risk alternatives. Manage quotes, proposals to customers, and bind coverage with insurance carriers within agency authority.

• Collaborate with producers and leadership to provide feedback on agricultural customer and/or market conditions.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Thorough technical knowledge of commercial & agricultural industry and/or insurance.  An understanding of commercial & agricultural-specific insurance forms and risk alternatives preferred 

• Thorough technical knowledge of farming/agricultural business is a plus if an active P&C license has not been obtained; However, must be willing to become licensed for P&C and stay active.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or technical school certification 
  • Insurance and/or farming/agricultural experience 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent and driven to take initiative
  • Property & Casualty insurance producer with active license with CE ongoing
