UX/UI Specialist (Engineer)

Job Location-Remote (must be located within 25 miles of Falls Church, VA)

Overview:

Varada Consulting, LLC is seeking a full-time UX/UI Specialist (Engineer) to lead user experience and interface design efforts in support of enterprise self-service portals and data governance systems. This role will evaluate usability, streamline user interactions, and ensure all platforms meet accessibility and compliance standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about intuitive design, accessibility, and user adoption, with the ability to balance user needs with enterprise standards and technical constraints.

Required Experience:

·       Conduct usability evaluations of self-service portals and related enterprise applications to identify areas for improvement.

·       Review and optimize interface design, navigation flows, and NLP-enabled search tools for clarity, efficiency, and ease of use.

·       Provide actionable design recommendations to improve user experience, promote adoption, and align with enterprise standards.

·       Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and final UI designs.

·       Ensure Section 508 compliance and adherence to government accessibility requirements.

·       Apply best practices in responsive design to support multiple devices and user environments.

·       Gather user feedback through testing, surveys, and observation, and incorporate insights into design improvements.

·       Maintain documentation of design standards, usability findings, and design decisions.

Minimum qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

·       Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in UX/UI design or engineering.

·       Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability testing methods, and accessibility standards.

·       Proficiency in UX/UI design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.

·       Demonstrated ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.

·       Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
