Our client, a highly respected law firm with offices in Waco, Texas, is seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in managing core accounting functions, supporting financial operations, and contributing to process improvements. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with law firm or professional services experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, project-oriented environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
  • Post electronic payments and nightly bank transfers
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and post payroll journal entries
  • Reclassify transactions and maintain chart of accounts accuracy
  • Generate a variety of financial reports including multi-year trend analyses, attorney scorecards, and pro bono summaries
  • Support the budgeting process, including uploads and performance monitoring
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to ad hoc reporting requests
  • Lead or assist in system implementations and upgrades (e.g., Expert AP, Expert Expense)
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments on cross-functional initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation strategies
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned
 
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including AP, AR, GL, and payroll
  • Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Aderant or similar accounting systems highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with accounting system implementations or upgrades
  • Strong technical and analytical skills; Excel proficiency required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
