Our client, a Houston area law firm, is looking to hire a dedicated and skilled Removal Defense Attorney to handle cases for individuals facing deportation. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum 3 years of experience as a removal defense attorney, a strong understanding of immigration law and exceptional advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal courts, if necessary.
  • Conduct master calendar and individual hearings, presenting strong oral arguments and evidence.
  • Develop comprehensive legal strategies to contest removability and seek relief, including asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, or waivers.
  • Draft and file motions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct bond hearings to secure clients' release from detention.
  • Provide clear guidance to clients regarding their legal rights, options, and the progress of their cases.
  • Collaborate with experts, interpreters, and support staff to build strong cases.
  • Stay current with immigration laws, policies, and relevant case law.
  • Maintain accurate client records and meet deadlines for filings and court appearances.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law and in good standing.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-centered approach.
