Our client, a Houston area law firm, is looking to hire a dedicated and skilled Removal Defense Attorney to handle cases for individuals facing deportation. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum 3 years of experience as a removal defense attorney, a strong understanding of immigration law and exceptional advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal courts, if necessary.
Conduct master calendar and individual hearings, presenting strong oral arguments and evidence.
Develop comprehensive legal strategies to contest removability and seek relief, including asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, or waivers.
Draft and file motions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents.
Conduct bond hearings to secure clients' release from detention.
Provide clear guidance to clients regarding their legal rights, options, and the progress of their cases.
Collaborate with experts, interpreters, and support staff to build strong cases.
Stay current with immigration laws, policies, and relevant case law.
Maintain accurate client records and meet deadlines for filings and court appearances.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law and in good standing.
Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and a client-centered approach.
