Seeking a talented Director of Quality for an industry leading manufacturer with a world-class culture. This person will be a key member of the company’s leadership team providing direction, support, and assistance for engineering, quality, and technical teams. The Director of Quality promotes, develops, evaluates, and leads engineering and quality efforts, champions the QMS, and promotes lean strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide strong leadership and strategic direction to the engineering and quality teams, foster a collaborative and innovative environment while mentoring and developing the technical team to support succession planning and future growth.
  • Lead customer development of new product design and improvements to existing customer products, from concept to production.
  • Oversee technical support, training and troubleshooting of internal technical issues and continually evaluate engineering capabilities to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Review and ensure all product testing meets or exceeds customers’ requirements and applicable regulations and products are compliant with industry regulations and standards.
  • Direct various engineering and quality projects, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion within budget. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.
  • Analyze problems, develop, and present alternative solutions and influence eventual outcomes. Make effective presentations to communicate capabilities and results.
  • Participate in product application testing and confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods. Meet with customers, suppliers, and internal groups to provide training, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Maintain effective communication with all Team Members and serve as the face of The company regarding Engineering and Quality performance and capabilities.
  • Ensure continued ISO certification for all company operations.
  • Remain current in relevant industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in product design and manufacturing processes.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical-related field required, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial & Systems Engineering and Technology degree preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated experience leading quality personnel, maintaining ISO certification, managing/maintaining QMS, leading quality audits and RCA, and developing/implementing corrective actions in a manufacturing environment required. Previous fastener application engineering, ISO9001:2008, and gage control knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Proven understanding of testing and machining equipment to resolve problems and/or provide technical solutions.
  • Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, Solid Works or Pro/ENGINEER.
  • Experience with process improvement and quality systems, preferably in a distribution environment.
  • Collaborative and professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, verbally, and in writing, at all organizational levels and with internal/external customers and suppliers. Excellent presentation skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Effective leadership of multiple employee groups, including remote personnel, with a strong record of effective coaching, mentoring, and development. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment and drive results with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong action and deadline orientation, timely communication, and ability to address issues as they arise.
  • Effective time management, outstanding organization and attention to detail, and utilization of analytical skills to solve problems and pivot to meet evolving business priorities.
