Commercial Manager – Oil & Gas Marketing & HedgingMorgantown, WV or Houston, TX
Our client is a privately held oil and gas exploration and production company with operations across the Appalachian Basin. They are looking for a results-driven Commercial Manager to take ownership of oil, natural gas, and NGL marketing, as well as pricing strategy and hedging activities. This position will be instrumental in optimizing revenue, mitigating price exposure, and maintaining strong industry partnerships.
What You’ll Do:
Design and execute robust marketing strategies for crude oil and natural gas, with a focus on securing competitive sales agreements.
Lead commercial negotiations to finalize favorable terms in product sales contracts.
Monitor performance against commercial targets and manage the marketing and trading budget.
Conduct detailed market and pricing analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
Cultivate and manage relationships with midstream operators, trading partners, and customers.
Develop and manage a comprehensive hedging program using instruments such as swaps, futures, and options.
Analyze market drivers and macroeconomic trends to guide hedging decisions and risk mitigation.
Continuously track and adjust hedging strategies to improve effectiveness and profitability.
Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Stay current on energy market developments, policy changes, and pricing mechanisms impacting the business.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA a plus.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in gas marketing, risk management, or commercial roles in the oil and gas sector.
Demonstrated success in structuring and executing energy marketing strategies and hedge programs.
Solid grasp of commodity pricing, energy markets, and risk mitigation techniques.
Strong working knowledge of hedging tools and financial instruments used in energy trading.
Analytical mindset with a strategic approach to problem-solving.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and financial modeling tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Location: This position can be based in either Morgantown, WV or Houston, TX, depending on the selected candidate’s preference.
