Bradley Professional is looking for a hands-on R&D Electromechanical Prototype Engineer/Technician to join our client's advanced motor/generator development team. This role focuses on rapid prototyping, precision fabrication, and testing of novel electric machine designs.
This person will work closely with senior engineering staff to build, instrument, and refine homopolar and radial-flux generator prototypes. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in the shop, enjoys solving tough engineering problems, and can turn experimental concepts into working hardware quickly and safely.
Applicants must have experience with motors/generators, safe operation of machining tools, and strong proficiency in COMSOL electrical/magnetic FEA. Integrity and a low-ego, team-oriented attitude are essential.
Fabricate parts using mills, lathes, CNC equipment, and precision hand tools.
Create CAD models/drawings (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion, AutoCAD).
Assemble electromechanical prototypes: rotors, stators, coils, magnet assemblies.
Perform precision measurements and instrumentation (strain gauges, thermocouples, encoders, etc.).
Run build–test–iterate cycles, analyze performance data, and provide design feedback.
Assist with coil winding, potting, magnet handling, and alignment.
Maintain a clean, safe prototype lab; manage materials and sourcing.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on proficiency.
Strong understanding of motor/generator principles.
CAD proficiency and expertise in COMSOL FEA.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Comfortable working with physical prototypes as well as simulations and design tools.
