Maintenance Supervisor – Nights

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor must have a basic understanding of general maintenance, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical and electronic systems, and welding (TIG, STICK). This role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of up to 10 members, overseeing daily tasks and documentation.
  • Organize and implement mechanical and engineering projects.
  • Ensure completion of assigned preventative maintenance (PMs) and required paperwork.
  • Maintain production lines in optimal mechanical condition.
  • Assist other departments, such as Production and Quality, when needed.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols.
  • Set up, inspect, test, and dismantle machinery as needed.
  • Identify and diagnose mechanical issues through sound and operational variations.
  • Disassemble defective machinery and install new or repaired parts.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery components such as shafts, bearings, and gears.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on physical structures as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance, or 5 years of direct experience in these fields.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and collaborate with personnel at all levels, including external contractors.
  • Experience operating forklifts, genie lifts, scissor lifts, or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Proficiency in reading work orders, writing reports, and interpreting equipment manuals.
  • Strong English communication skills (oral and written) and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Leadership training.
  • Vocational diploma, technical diploma, or associate degree in maintenance or a related field.
  • Experience in the slaughter/meat industry.
  • Multi-lingual abilities (Spanish, Karenni, French, and Creole are highly preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using the buddy system or designated lifting devices.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to talk and hear in a production environment.
