The Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance operations within the Technical Rendering Division. This role provides leadership, direction, and technical expertise to ensure equipment reliability and production efficiency. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the supervisor manages a skilled maintenance team and works closely with operations, food safety, and environmental health and safety (EHS) departments to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Supervise and lead maintenance personnel in all aspects of breakdown repairs, preventive and predictive maintenance, and project execution.
Develop and manage maintenance schedules through CMMS tools to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
Prioritize and assign work orders based on operational needs and equipment criticality.
Provide technical support in mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, and piping.
Oversee equipment overhauls, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards.
Apply root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) to resolve recurring issues.
Serve as the main maintenance contact for rendering operations, coordinating timely repairs and minimizing downtime.
Investigate and address production delays related to equipment performance.
Ensure all maintenance work meets internal policies and regulatory standards (e.g., DOSH, EPA, GMP, SQF).
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through training, audits, and corrective actions.
Train and mentor maintenance staff in technical skills, safety procedures, and equipment-specific processes.
Manage staffing levels, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
Monitor and control departmental spending in line with budget goals.
Oversee contractor performance to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with project requirements.
Strong background in rendering operations and maintenance of processing equipment.
Skilled in mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining.
Experience using CMMS platforms and maintenance planning tools.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar improvement methodologies.
Proven success implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other Windows-based applications.
Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and perform under pressure.
Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends as needed.
Strong commitment to safety and performance excellence.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or rendering environment.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
