Summary: The Quality Lab Manager is responsible for completing lab testing, ensuring equipment is in proper working order and working with R & D and Production to understand testing and data needs, mentoring and managing technicians, training new users on lab equipment, coordinating on site analytical testing, ensuring accredited testing methods are adhered to.
Location: Southeast – Desirable Metropolitan area.
Responsibilities:
• Manage 3 Quality Technicians.
• Manage, train and develop the QA Lab Department employees and direct all quality testing and administrative functions.
• Prepare capability analysis of physical properties of competitive products and materials, and report data to R &D in a timely manner.
• Be the point of contact for customers, suppliers and any other external parties regarding quality systems and procedures.
• Participate in product and process validation projects.
• Provide support as needed to other departments.
Requirements:
• 3 to 5 years’ experience testing materials in a Quality Lab or as a Process or Product Engineer.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Proven leadership skills is important for this position.
• Desire to join an organization with room for promotion and growth.
• Ability to learn, utilize and train others on all testing equipment, including FT-IR, MVTR, Tensile, etc.
• Knowledge of multi-layer films and converting – Extrusion, Printing, Laminating would be a plus.
• Knowledge of SQF, FDA, ISO 9001, etc. a plus.
• Experience in working with international compliance trends would be viewed favorably.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Chemistry, Engineering, Packaging Science or a similar technical discipline.
