ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER
DESCRIPTION
The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in leading and motivating the operations team to achieve goals in safety, food safety, operations, human resources, and financial performance. This role requires a strong background in both harvest and fabrication operations and is responsible for overseeing day-to-day facility performance, including safety, yields, and departmental efficiencies. The position plays a key role in critical planning functions such as labor relations, budgeting, cost control, employee development, supply procurement, and maintenance coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Owns all key performance indicators (KPIs) for the plant, including:
Safety culture execution
Turnover and absenteeism
Yield and production efficiency
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) development and action plan implementation
Food safety and quality compliance
Schedule attainment and cost control
Inventory and financial performance
Leads multiple personnel groups and promotes a positive facility culture
Provides work direction, resolves operational issues, sets schedules and deadlines
Monitors costs and supports annual budget preparation
Collaborates closely with senior leadership teams in safety, quality, HR, finance, maintenance, and engineering
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires working 40+ hours per week in production environments with potential exposure to hazards such as slippery floors, machinery, noise, and temperature extremes.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum six years of experience in the beef industry, including at least two years at the superintendent level or higher
Strong operational knowledge of both harvest and fabrication processes
Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and USDA regulations
Effective team collaboration and communication skills
Strong math and reading comprehension abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Educational credentials or equivalent experience preferred
Ability to work in cold, damp, noisy environments with slick surfaces
Flexible schedule with availability for overtime and weekend shifts
