We are conducting a search for a Director of Engineering for our manufacturing client in Northvale, NJ.
What You'll Do:
- Originates or approves designs and coordinates engineering projects, evaluates results, and makes recommendations to senior management.
- Works with the Operations Department to identify, develop, and roll out key technical strategies/programs that bring competitive advantage and value.
- Utilizes technology as a lever to increase competitiveness and improve food safety, quality improvement, and manufacturing cost reductions.
- Oversees efficiency of the maintenance department and provides guidance to the maintenance managers to continuously improve machine uptime and Preventative Maintenance programs.
- Reviews maintenance personnel performance to help Maintenance managers target areas of improvement.
- Maintains oversight of the Maintenance, Facilities, and Fabrication teams to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively on plant upkeep as well as projects assigned by the Engineering department.
- Develops internal subject matter experts by mentoring and building technical capability of a facility-based team of Engineers.
- Partners with cross functional teams to review business requirements to determine and develop optimized technical solutions to meet business needs.
- Leads major segments of complex projects to meet cost schedule, and performance.
- Creates standardization of equipment and procedures and replicates these across the business.
- Provides technical leadership to identify and develop key strategies, programs, and projects to build technical capability, increase system reliability, and deliver the highest value business benefit to the company.
- Partners with Research and Development and the Supply Chain early in a project’s lifecycle to evaluate multiple scenarios that meet company requirements.
- Develops rough order of magnitude estimates to give the business a directional early view of a project and the robustness of the business case.
- Develops 3rd party engineering partners to support business needs.
- Reviews product requirements to ensure building utility compatibility, determines costs and schedules.
- Keeps current with latest technology, commercial applications, industry regulations and codes
What You'll Bring:
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, P.E. preferred.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Project Engineering, Project Execution and Maintenance Management.
- Proven leadership qualities, team development, communication skills, technical analysis and problem solving.
- 15+ years of practical experience in the food, pet food, nutraceutical, and beverage industry with expertise in utility design, operation, and management.
- Recognition as SME outside of the company via a leadership position in an industry or standards organization.
- High level of proficiency in continuous improvement applications in engineering design.
- Proven effectiveness in working collaboratively within an organization.
