Our client, a Tier 1 automotive supplier located in Upstate South Carolina, is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to take ownership of all purchasing and inventory functions for their plant.
This is a solo role where you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all purchasing and inventory functions for the company. Your expertise in procurement, supplier management, cost analysis, and process optimization will ensure timely material acquisition, strong vendor relationships, and efficient inventory control to support production.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research, address, and resolve invoice and receive discrepancies by communicating with warehouse personnel, accounts payable, and with suppliers
• Maintain vendor and parts purchasing master data including pricing
• Estimate values according to knowledge of market price; determine if our COG is competitive in the market
• Communicate with vendors to obtain product information, such as optimal price, availability, and best delivery schedule
• Expedite orders and requests as needed. Coordinate and expedite the flow of parts and follow up on late orders
• Participate in supplier selection process (Specifically: locate prospective suppliers, perform supplier assessments including gathering product / pricing information, recommend next steps to Management team)
• Maintain inventories at required levels, while actively leading the efforts to reduce the "Total Cost of Ownership" of materials
• Purchase all manufacturing materials as needed
• Enter Monthly KPI Reports
• Perform any other delegated duties to maintain the efficient running of the department.
Competencies / Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the automotive industry.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• In-depth knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software programs.
• Strong ability to read and interpret requisition forms, bid documents, and purchase orders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control practices.
