Job Title: Junior Accountant

Location: Waterloo, Iowa

Salary: DOE 

Job Summary of the Junior Accountant:. The Junior Accountant will assist with financial tasks, including preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and managing accounts payable and receivable. They will also be involved in payroll processing and other accounting duties under the supervision of a senior accountant. 

 Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant:

  • Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the creation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. 
  • Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements, general ledgers, and other accounts to ensure accuracy. 
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including processing invoices, following up on outstanding payments, and reconciling accounts. 
  • Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll processing, including calculating payroll, issuing paychecks, and reporting payroll data. 
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including entering data, organizing files, and maintaining documentation. 
  • Journal Entry Posting: Assist with posting journal entries to the general ledger. 
  • Compliance Reporting: Prepare and file local compliance reporting as necessary. 
  • Budgeting: Assist with budget preparation and analysis. 
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 
Education & Experience of the Junior Accountant:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related is required

·         CPA Certification a plus, but not required.

  • Basic accounting knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and general ledger. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software: Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues. 
  • Attention to detail: Accuracy and meticulousness in financial data entry and record keeping. 
  • Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Organization and time management skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize work.
