Plant/Site Operations– Position Specification

This role is a full time position with a Lean Focus client

 

POSITION:  Plant/Operations Leader  

JOB LOCATION:  Winston-Salem, NC

DIRECT REPORTS:  ~5

TRAVEL:  N/A

 

Position Overview

The Plant/Operations Leaders is responsible for overseeing plant operations at the co-located manufacturing facility and distribution center in Winston-Salem, NC. The ideal candidate should possess robust experience in operations management and a proven track record in Lean deployment. The Plant Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the plant’s growth by enhancing key performance indicators (KPIs), optimizing all operational processes, and driving the plant’s Lean culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Directing and managing plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving across both buildings (manufacturing and distribution)
  • Establishing and monitoring plant performance for production and quality standards
  • Implementing cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries while managing capital asset maintenance
  • Monitoring and evaluating workflow and assembly methods and making process improvements through establishing and implementing a culture of Continuous Improvement to improve KPIs
  • Developing and executing plant policies and procedures that align with the company’s goals while ensuring all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Training on and implementing key Lean manufacturing principles including Visual Management, structured problem solving, inventory management, and overall process improvement
  • Collaborating cross-functionally, including with site-level Lean leadership, to ensure progress and buy-in from all areas of the plants
  • Responsible for being the Customer Focus champion within manufacturing
  • Facilitating communications between different departments including resolving conflicts and fostering cooperation
  • Responsible for the full cycle of people management in partnership with HR
 
 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Engineering, or related fields
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Industrial Management is preferred
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity within a plant or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on experience in the implementation Lean Principles & Systems
  • Proven successful application of Lean tools: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Standard Work, FMEA, Problem Solving, Kanban, Visual Daily Management, Policy Deployment
  • Professional certifications related to plant management, production management, or Lean manufacturing preferred
 
 

Compensation

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include a base salary and an annual performance bonus, long term incentives, and other benefits and perquisites.
