POSITION: Vice President of Operations

JOB LOCATION:  Warsaw, IN

Position Overview

The Vice President of Operations is a key executive responsible for the daily operations of the company. The right candidate will ensure that the manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and operational strategies align with the overall business objectives and contribute to the company’s growth and profitability. The VP of Operations will work closely with other executives to drive operational excellence, foster innovation, and ensure the company’s competitive positioning.  

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • ·       Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources
  • ·       Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure smooth, efficient, and effective business operations
  • ·       Leading the company’s manufacturing, production, logistics, supply chain, and site-level engineering functions to optimise performance, in particular, order to cash and procure to pay cycles
  • ·       Deploying 80/20 thinking and LEAN operational tools with the support of groupwide operational excellence expertise to ensure continuous improvement, mentoring and learning and disciplined execution
  • ·       Collaborating with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the company’s strategic goals and initiatives defined in the X-matrix strategy deployment tool
  • ·       Leading the development and implementation of short-term and long-term operational strategies that align with the company’s business goals
  • ·       Identifying and driving opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and cost reduction
  • ·       Working closely with the CFO to develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
  • ·       Monitoring key operational metrics and KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing counter measures and action plans as needed
  • ·       Driving cost reduction and management initiatives to improve competitiveness, profitability and efficiency
  • ·       Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing operations team, including plant managers, production managers, other functional managers, operational managers, and other operational staff
  • ·       Identifying and developing future leaders within the operations team
  • ·       Designing and implementing training programs to enhance the skills and performance of operational teams, ensuring they are equipped to meet performance and company goals
  • ·       Fostering a culture of performance, accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork, continuous learning and professional growth within the operational teams
  • ·       Ensuring all manufacturing and operational processes meet or exceed quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and industry standards
  • ·       Implementing and maintaining effective quality control systems, driving continuous improvement in product quality
  • ·       Ensuring the company adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe and sustainable workplace
  • ·       Overseeing the supply chain function, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products
  • ·       Optimizing the supply chain to reduce lead times, lower costs, and improve service levels
  • ·       Develop strategic relationships with suppliers and partners to ensure the reliability and quality of the supply chain
  • ·       Overseeing production planning and scheduling to ensure that manufacturing targets are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • ·       Implementing best practices in lean manufacturing, process improvement, and waste reduction
  • ·       Ensuring that production facilities are maintained and operated at optimal efficiency
  • ·       Leading the adoption of new technologies and innovations to improve operational efficiency and product quality
  • ·       Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive
  • ·       Collaborating with the R&D and global engineering teams to integrate new technologies into production processes
  • ·       Ensuring that operational activities align with customer needs and expectations, delivering high-quality products on time
  • ·       Working closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into operational objectives
  • ·       Addressing and resolving operational issues that impact customer satisfaction
  • ·       Setting clear, ambitious, and achievable goals for the operating teams, aligned with overall business initiatives and goals defined in the X-matrix SD tool
  • ·       Implementing a robust performance management system, including regular reviews, feedback, and development plans to ensure high performance and accountability
  • ·       Addressing performance issues proactively and constructively, providing necessary resources and support to help team members succeed

 

Education and Experience

  • ·       Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field
  • ·       Minimum 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience; at least 5 years’ experience in senior management or director-level
  • ·       Investment casting experience in medical device, orthopedic, aerospace, defense, or adjacent industries preferred
  • ·       Dedicated experience leading. Owning, and scaling up manufacturing production operations
  • ·       Experience with implementing a Lean Business System including implementation of 6S, Visual Management, One Piece Flow, Daily Management, Value Stream Mapping, A3/problem solving, Kanban, Total Preventive Maintenance, Kaizen events, and Leader Standard Work
  • ·       Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization
  • ·      Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills
