POSITION: Vice President of Sales
LOCATION/TRAVEL: Toledo, OH area
REPORTS TO: CEO
TRAVEL: Up to 50% domestic
POSITION SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a VP of Sales to join their machining company in the Toledo, OH area. The right candidate will have experience with commercial transformation of a precision machining business from traditional precision machining product portfolio into an aerospace and medical solution-driven business. They will increase revenue by developing a high-impact sales organization, expanding into high-margin verticals (e.g., medical devices, life sciences, aerospace, and automation), and building enduring customer partnerships across the Midwest and North America.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Architect and execute multi-year commercial strategy aligned with company’s evolution into core product/component platforms.
- Define ideal customer profiles, competitive positioning, and pricing to penetrate high-value verticals.
- Build structured, data-driven sales funnel with disciplined lead gen, KPI tracking, and forecast accuracy.
- Drive bookings growth from $32M to $60M; expand machining sales from $25M to $50M.
- Improve average deal size and contract profitability via consultative selling and solution alignment.
- Establish repeatable, scalable sales engine to deliver quarterly and annual targets.
- Build, mentor, and retain high-performance inside sales, account managers, and biz dev team with deep expertise.
- Define roles, performance standards, and development paths to elevate accountability and results.
- Drive standardization and speed in quoting, proposal generation, and concept development.
- Serve as exec sponsor for key accounts; deepen ties at engineering, operations, and executive levels.
- Promote consultative sales approach focused on long-term partnerships and sustained value creation.
- Lead customer engagement from discovery through proposal and contract negotiation.
- Collaborate with engineering and ops leadership to align capacity, road maps, and pricing.
- Optimize CRM to boost efficiency, visibility, and conversion.
- Streamline sales workflows to cut lead-to-close time and improve forecast reliability.
- Identify strategic partners and channels to drive growth in regulated and emerging markets.
- Boost brand visibility via trade shows, industry forums, and targeted networking.
- Support M&A due diligence; assess market/commercial fit and lead integration of acquired assets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering or business required; MBA preferred.
- 15+ years of commercial leadership experience in custom machining, precision machining, or industrial solutions.
- 5+ years leading high-performance sales teams, including experience managing managers.
- Demonstrated success scaling revenues and leading strategic growth initiatives in a mid-sized industrial business.
- Proficient in CRM tools
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
