POSITION: Director of Operations

JOB LOCATION: Orange, CA or Atlanta, GA

TRAVEL: International and domestic travel required. Amount varies depending on where candidate is based (10-50%)

 

Position Overview

This great opportunity is for a Director of Operations at a growing company. The Director of Operations is a hands-on critical member of the team that oversees day-to-day operations of the company, while driving continuous improvement and fostering a Lean culture. The Director of Operations reports to the CEO and is responsible for providing leadership, direction and hands-on problem solving while driving process improvements, managing personnel, delivering on operational strategy, and achieving both short and long-term objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute operations strategy to achieve short and long-term business objectives
  • Ensure timely and efficient manufacturing of high-quality product
  • Identify and engage third party manufacturers for capital equipment
  • Provide leadership and strategic support for developing and delivering on a comprehensive integrated supply chain management strategy
  • Support supply chain risk mitigation
  • Determine opportunities and drive distribution footprint optimization
  • Establish key KPIs around quality, delivery, and other industry-specific metrics
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute manufacturing, engineering, production planning, inventory and logistics strategies to continuously improve the overall business performance metrics
  • Drive a culture of Continuous Improvement using key Lean tools
  • Accountable for creating product Demand Planning forecast and converting into production scheduling
  • Assess and implement appropriate compliance relating to Document Control, R&D, and Quality

 

 Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required (Engineering or Technical field preferred); advanced degree or professional project management / manufacturing certifications preferred
  • 6+ years progressively responsible roles in operations
  • Contract manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • 4+ years’ experience in managing a group of high-performing engineering and operations professionals
  • Advanced knowledge of lean methodologies including Value Stream Mapping, Problem Solving Process/A3, SMED, TPM, Standard Work, Kaizen, 5S, etc.
  • Must be process management minded with a clear understanding for the use of metrics and measurements
  • Demonstrated ability to champion and encourage shifting ways of current thinking utilizing strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and coordination skills
  • Proven accomplishment leveraging third party manufacturers
  • Experience and ability to improve time-to-market without sacrificing quality or innovation
  • Hands-on experience with ISO Quality standards with demonstrated success in project management and process improvement initiatives in the development / manufacture of electronic devices
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound and ethical decisions that are within the best interest of the company
  • Experience in launching new operations is a plus

 

 Compensation

  • Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include a base salary ($200-$250K) and an annual performance bonus (25%).
