Job Description:
As an Emergency Department Physician at Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, you will be responsible for the timely evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions and emergencies. You will play a pivotal role in delivering urgent medical care and ensuring the efficient operation of our emergency department.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Assess and prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition.
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
- Perform life-saving procedures, including intubation, chest tube placement, and central line insertion.
- Administer appropriate medications and therapies.
- Coordinate with specialists and consult as needed.
Triage and Stabilization:
- Effectively triage patients to allocate resources and prioritize care.
- Stabilize critically ill patients and provide immediate interventions.
- Ensure timely initiation of treatment protocols, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and trauma care.
Emergency Team Leadership:
- Lead and coordinate the healthcare team, including nurses, technicians, and other medical staff.
- Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers for seamless patient care.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients.
- Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and interventions.
Emergency Medicine Education:
- Provide education and guidance to medical residents, nurses, and other staff.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in emergency medicine through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training in Emergency Medicine.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
- State medical licensure to practice as an Emergency Department Physician.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to make rapid, critical decisions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate care in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare team.
