Our client is an operating group managing a portfolio of vertical market software companies. Industry-agnostic, they focus on acquiring, growing, and holding companies indefinitely, enabling long-term strategic investments that drive success in diverse markets. They are seeking an action-oriented individual to join their team as Vice President of Operations/COO payments.

The VP of Operations/COO will oversee critical business functions, including portfolio company relationships, pricing strategies, and merchant retention. This role is responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan to achieve growth, profitability, and operational efficiency. The individual will lead various teams, improve operational procedures, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure high-quality service delivery.

 

What You Will Do:

 

  • Manage teams overseeing merchant support, risk, and portfolio company relationships.
  • Maintain detailed records of client and portfolio company interactions using ticket management systems.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to centralize and maintain accurate data tracking.
  • Act as the primary owner for addressing and resolving client and portfolio company issues, including short- and long-term remediation planning.
  • Provide guidance to managers on standardizing and optimizing their operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc operational and financial reports.
 

What You Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in management roles with a track record of building and leading exceptional teams.
  • Strategic thinker capable of driving results.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial data.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule and travel as needed.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the payments industry and related products.
  • Experience working in an integrated payments model or within a matrix organization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with managed payment facilitation platforms.
  • Professional-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to write and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Experience motivating teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational planning skills to develop and maintain corporate structures.
