Accounting Assistant

A leading manufacturer of parts and components used in the automotive industry seeks an Accounting Assistant. This role is responsible for processing all accounts payable invoices and accounts receivable cash receipts, including related account reconciliations and issue resolution.

Accounting Assistant Key Responsibilities:
  • Open and date-stamp incoming mail daily.
  • Compile, sort, code, and match documents such as invoices, receivers, and purchase orders to verify business transactions.
  • Ensure accurate account coding and record sales and use tax liabilities when applicable.
  • Monitor accounts and statements to ensure timely payments.
  • Track outstanding “Received but Not Invoiced” (REBNI) items and follow up to avoid payment delays.
  • Review and close outdated purchase orders to maintain accurate records.
  • Investigate and resolve vendor discrepancies.
  • Reconcile A/P Aging Detail report with the general ledger control account.
  • Process and verify customer payment receipts, resolving any discrepancies.

Accounting Assistant Qualifications:

  • General understanding of accounting principles and general ledger relationships.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable/receivable and issue resolution preferred.
  • Formal education in accounting is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and reconcile account variances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing or multicultural environments is a plus.
