We are supporting a global manufacturing leader, known for their innovation, advanced technology, and strong commitment to sustainability. With a long-standing reputation for excellence in industrial and utility solutions, they are currently seeking an Automation Engineer to support operations at their facility in Lafayette, Indiana. This role is critical to maintaining and improving equipment performance by developing and troubleshooting control systems, and driving reliability and efficiency improvements across production lines.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, hands-on problem solver with experience in PLC programming, electrical systems, and automation controls in a manufacturing environment.
What you will be doing as an Automation Engineer:
Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions in machine control systems to improve efficiency and product quality
Design, modify, and maintain PLC and HMI applications using Siemens and Rockwell platforms
Participate in the setup and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades to existing systems
Design control panels and field wiring layouts from start to finish
Work with various field control devices (motors, relays, sensors, switches)
Develop and improve instrumentation and automation systems across production lines
Utilize Electrical CAD tools to design and document control systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements
What you will need as an Automation Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
2–5 years of experience in electrical engineering, automation, or controls systems
Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell), ladder logic, and HMI development
Solid understanding of AC/DC circuitry and industrial electrical systems
Familiarity with CAD software for electrical design
Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
