Hardware Engineer I/II

Job Summary
This engineer will work in a creative hands-on R&D atmosphere with a cross-functional team of hardware, firmware, software, and research engineers and program managers. They will contribute to the design and development of global positioning (GPS/GNSS), inertial, and digital signal communication systems and products where the key innovation is software-based. This position is available for immediate fill for a full-time, long term engagement.
Responsibilities will include:
· Writing firmware for FPGA
· Designing and development of Firmware and Drivers for SDR
· Developing firmware algorithms and drivers to handle power control, USB communications, USB Type C Power Delivery, and UART communications packets
· Architecture, design, and implementation of a distributed system containing PLCs and other embedded devices
· Conducting firmware/component-level debug and identifying solutions to complex problems
· Utilize engineering principles and practices through projects
Job Requirements
The level of position (I or II) will be dependent on experience, skill level, and the extent to which the candidate meets all minimum and desired requirements.
The following are requirements for consideration:
· U.S. citizenship required and an active secret clearance is a plus. At a minimum, you must be security clearance eligible
· BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering. Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical discipline
· Experience with service-oriented architectures
· Strong verbal & written communication skills are required
The following are desired:
· Possess knowledge of GPS or navigation systems, software-defined radios, and digital signal processing concepts
· Experience with system integrations and testing and performance analysis
· Experience with Test First Development
This position requires a motivated self-starter and team player with the ability to address diverse challenges in a complex environment. Amongst these challenges are inter-program technology dependencies and mid-program technology changes. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. An ability to operate fluidly and efficiently will contribute to the incumbent’s success.
Salary and Benefits
NAVSYS offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental and vision plans, life and STD/LTD disability insurance, a 401k retirement plan, vacation and holiday leave, and an educational assistance program.
Salary: $66,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year, dependent on experience, skill level, and extent to which the candidate meets desired requirements.
