Director, Business Development
Location: Columbus, MS (Remote eligible)
Overview:
Our client, a leading defense and aerospace organization, is seeking an accomplished Director of Business Development to drive growth across U.S. and international defense markets. This role is focused on building strategic relationships, leading capture efforts, and positioning the company as a trusted partner to the Department of Defense, Missile Defense Agency, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within Tier II and Tier III defense contractors, expanding outreach as success is achieved.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with prospective and existing clients.
Partner with internal teams to develop contract-winning proposals and shape competitive bids.
Lead negotiations, define contract terms, and communicate agreements effectively to stakeholders.
Act as a subject matter expert on company capabilities, programs, and industry trends.
Support preparation of annual business development budgets and sales forecasts.
Develop and execute capture strategies for domestic and international opportunities, ensuring compliance with ITAR and export control requirements.
Collaborate with engineering, program management, and operations to align solutions with customer requirements.
Represent the company at trade shows, industry conferences, and defense forums to enhance visibility and credibility.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
Demonstrated success in U.S. Department of Defense business development.
Strong network of relationships within DoD, prime contractors, and international defense partners preferred.
Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 U.S.C. 6010.
