Electronics Test Technician
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD
Our client, a global leader in the design, manufacture, and support of advanced electronic systems for the U.S. government, is seeking an experienced Electronics Test Technician to join their team. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in testing, troubleshooting, and supporting high-reliability electronics within the defense and aerospace sectors.
The ideal candidate will bring 5–8 years of hands-on test experience, strong technical problem-solving skills, and a deep commitment to quality, documentation, and compliance with defense and aerospace standards. Limited travel, including occasional trips to partner countries, will be required to support system integration and collaboration efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional, environmental, and acceptance testing on analog, digital, and RF electronic assemblies and systems.
- Operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and multimeters.
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures to identify and resolve failures at the component level.
- Accurately document and report test results in line with company and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on designs, root cause analysis, and continuous improvements.
- Support configuration control and change management processes.
- Ensure compliance with MIL-STD, IPC, J-STD, and other defense/aerospace standards.
- Maintain ESD protocols and a safe, organized work environment.
- Assist in developing and validating new test procedures and fixtures.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or related field (or equivalent military training).
- 5–8 years of experience as a Test Technician in the defense or aerospace sector.
- Proficiency with electronic test and measurement instruments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electronics down to the component level.
- Working knowledge of military/aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and test procedures.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Active DoD Security Clearance.
Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and test software (LabVIEW, TestStand).
